***9pm – 10pm – Contact Improv: Leaning Into Your Own Flow facilitated by Amanda North
This class is designed to connect you deeper to your own meridian channels and gravity, and learn to work with it as you move with others. Focus is on giving in/giving weight to both the floor and your partners. Some weight sharing will be taught, depending on class level lifts will also be taught. Learning to trust your body and you can trust your partner. Contact improv is fun, light, fluid, airy, weightless, and creates a deeper space of nonevent exploration than one person alone. This class will prepare us for the jam, to move through and with others consensually and trusting.
Amanda North has a BA in Dance and Performance Studies from UC Berkeley, where her focus was on deep improvisation and release technique. She does not believe dance is one right way or for one body, which is where her love for contact improv comes in. She started doing contact at age 15 after meeting Jess Humphrey and being taken under her wing, and it really spoke to her free soul. The rules of ballet and jazz wasn’t suiting for her flow. Now almost 10 years later, contact improv is her main form of dance, along with fire performance, aerial dance, Afro-modern and capoeira. Her style is strong and rooted in the earth, with a constant curiously and playfulness.

Ecstatic Dance Guidelines
1. Move however you wish
2. No talking on the dance floor
3. Respect yourself and one another
4. Ecstatic Dance is a Drug & Alcohol Free Space
5. Please also refrain from photos, video, shoes & scents.
Many people dance in their own space, and others share their space with another.
To engage in a dance with someone, use sensitivity: Are they open to sharing their space with me? Mirror movements, offer a hand, brush by, make eye contact, and see & feel how they respond…
